Are you ready?
Contrary to common belief, Chinese is not a difficult language to learn. Most of my students reach intermediate level within a year, which means they can hold a basic conversation, write emails, and read simple stories written in Chinese characters.
However, there are a few questions that you need to ask yourself before signing up:
1) Am I willing to make the commitment?
Once you sign up, I will arrange a slot for you every week. If I cannot deliver lessons on a certain date, I will let you know at least a week in advance. In return, I would expect you to tell me at least 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel, unless it is an emergency. If you consistently fail to meet this requirement, you will lose your slot.
2) Am I open to new ideas and new learning approaches?
If you have never learnt a foreign language before, it might be a new challenge for you. There will be moments of frustration, but overcoming them is part of the fun. You will need a little confidence in yourself, and the courage to make “mistakes”, for after all this is the only way to learn.
3) Do I have the time to attend the lessons, and to revise after class?
The Chinese believe that “师傅领进门,修行在个人” (the master leads the student to the door, but perfection lies in the individual). I will provide all the support you need, but this will only work if you also do your homework, which takes no more than 15 minutes a day. This is not a huge task, but if you can stick to it, you will see the result in about three months. We call this “水滴石穿” (dripping water wears through rock).
If you answered "yes" to all three questions, then please don't hesitate -- get in touch through the form on the right or by clicking on "contact" on the left and start learning Chinese today!
